RFID and LBS Based Systems on Mobile Medical Instruments for Healthcare Units

Project Overview

The aging population, healthcare professional shortage, and rising mortality rates from medical errors have driven the global trend of healthcare informatization. The healthcare industry is facing increasing pressure from rising medical costs, peer competition, and growing consumer awareness. Reducing medical costs, promoting rational resource allocation, and improving operating performance are key goals for hospital management. To address these challenges, hospitals are turning to information technology to improve operational efficiency, increase employee productivity, enhance healthcare quality, save costs, and support clinical processes.

Medical equipment is a critical asset for diagnosis in hospitals. In emergency rooms, where every second counts, minimizing the time medical staff spend searching for and waiting for equipment is crucial. This Industry Cooperation project applies Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Location Based Service (LBS) to the healthcare industry to track equipment movement, locate needed equipment in the shortest time possible, and conduct inventory. This system will ultimately improve equipment utilization, asset management efficiency, and reduce equipment wait times, allowing medical staff to focus more on patient care and improve healthcare quality.
